Non-formal Vocational Training

 

Since 1 September, 2011 Vocational Education Competence Centre “Riga Technical College” has been granting professional qualification for those who have acquired their knowledge and skills outside the formal education system creating the opportunities to increase competitiveness in the labour market. In accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers Rules of Procedure No 146 on 22 February, 2011 „Order to Evaluate Professional Competence Acquired outside the Formal Education System” and Education Quality State Service delegated agreements, we accept application forms from individuals to evaluate professional competence acquired outside the formal education system complying with the second:

  • electrician;
  • car mechanic’s assistant

 or the third professional qualification level:

  • programming technician;
  • computer systems technician;
  • electronics technician;
  • telecommunications technician;
  • secretary;
  • customer support specialist;
  • electrician;
  • post office specialist;
  • car mechanic;
  • CNC operator;
  • carpenter.

A person willing to evaluate his/her professional competence has to submit an application form (attached below) to Vocational Education Competence Centre “Riga Technical College” at 16 Braslas Street, Room 12.

A receipt certifying the payment for the professional qualification examination must be obligatory attached to the application.
In accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers Rules of Procedure No 149 on 22 February, 2011”Rules of Procedure on Provided Paid Services Price List by Vocational Education Institutions within State Managed Tasks”.

A person’s professional competence will be evaluated during the professional qualification examination, which can be taken individually or joining a group.

A person willing to evaluate his/her professional competence in the chosen qualification is eligible to get a tutorial at Vocational Education Competence Centre “Riga Technical College” for free.

The procedure of the centralized professional qualification exam is determined by The Cabinet of Ministers Rules of Procedure No 662 on 30 August, 2011 “The Procedure of the Professional Qualification Exams in Accredited Vocational Education Programs”.

Non-formal Vocational Training System

On 2 May, 2012 eight candidates of non-formal vocational training system took the qualification exam to assess the “Customer Service Specialist” professional competence at Vocational Education Competence Centre “Riga Technical College” for the first time. They showed good knowledge and skills in the professional qualification exam theoretical and practical parts. The candidates, who applied for the assessment of professional competence, represented Lattelecom Ltd inquiry service “177”.  Much effort to prepare candidates was contributed by Kaspars Strauts, a consultant of Latvian Free Trade Union Communications Unit and a teacher Olga Kazakova. On 16 May, 2012 Vocational Education Competence Centre “Riga Technical College” principal Dr. Janis Rozenblats  issued state education document- professional education qualification certificate, ensuring that upon the order of the qualification exam committee on 2 May, 2012 the qualification “Customer Service Specialist was granted to them, which will be useful at their current work place and in further career.
